What is Target Theory?
Originally conceptualized through a poem I once wrote, Target Theory is a system used by governments and other parties to effectively nullify potential threats. They identify you, track you, target you and subdue you all at a covert level and with you likely unaware of it.
Why use Target Theory?
It’s used by governments and other parties to ensure that their grip on power is maintained while reducing the ability and reach of potential threats. Once labeled as a threat, your spheres of influence and ability are limited by essentially blacklisting you from potential jobs, sectors, communities and opportunities. Doing so helps the oppressor keep potential threats from reaching their maximum potential without having to resort to more extreme measures.
How do we know if we’ve been targeted?
We don’t… hence why we need to be careful of what we say, we do and whom we befriend. With a system as comprehensive as Target Theory in place, it’s very difficult to really tell at just what level we’re being watched. To quote The Matrix:
The Matrix is a system, Neo. That system is our enemy. But when you’re inside, you look around, what do you see? Businessmen, teachers, lawyers, carpenters. The very minds of the people we are trying to save. But until we do, these people are still a part of that system and that makes them our enemy. You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inured, so hopelessly dependent on the system, that they will fight to protect it.
Even though The Matrix is a fictional movie, much of the concepts and philosophies behind it have been theorized and speculated for years by some of society’s brightest thinkers. That’s a scary thought because if it’s been thought of, it’s even more likely in place already…
